Freshman Students

Transitioning to college life from high school may be hard. Clemson is a place that will challenge you on multiple levels in order for you to reach your full potential as a student and, a leader, and a person. Here are a few tips to adjust well:

  • Go to class: There is a reason why you or you parents pay tuition and its the first, simplest step you can take to achieve academic success.
  • Seek help when you need it: Clemson is challenging academically. If there ever comes a point when you need help or just have questions, get them answered. The easiest way to do that is by talking to your professor, but it is not the only way. Clemson offers many resources through the Academic Success Center that can
  • Build relationships: College is the place where you have an opportunity to build relationships to better your future. Form bonds with friends and professors because doing both with make your Clemson experience even better.
  • Realize when you need to take a break: College is stressful and can become draining. As a student you have to know yourself well and know when you need to take a break and regroup. Once you have regrouped, you can come back refreshed and energized, and ready to accomplish the task at hand.
  • Have fun: I know this sounds like a simple and cliche tip but seriously have fun. What is the point in pushing yourself through the challenges that college presents if you forget to have fun along the way? "Fun is good." -Dr. Seuss
